The weather will remain largely mixed this week, with rain, showers and breezy conditions, but also some spells of dry weather, according to Met Éireann.
There is currently a Status Yellow warning for wind in place for two counties this morning (Tuesday, October 27).
Counties Donegal and Mayo will see very strong and gusty south-westerly winds early today, with the warning in effect from midnight last night to 12:00p.m (midday) today.
People living in these counties should expect debris and loose objects displaced; difficult traveling conditions; large coastal waves; and some fallen trees and branches.
In general, today will be cool and blustery with widespread showers. Many of the showers will be heavy and there will be isolated thunderstorms and possibly hail.
It will be windy in the west and north-west this morning, with gales in coastal areas, but otherwise winds will be moderate to fresh from the west or south-west. Highest temperatures will be 9° to 12°.
Most areas will be dry with clear spells at first tonight as showers become confined to northern areas.
Outbreaks of rain will soon develop in the west and north-west and will move eastwards across the country overnight, lingering in northern areas until morning but clearing to isolated showers and some clear spells elsewhere.
It will be breezy or windy with moderate to fresh and gusty west to south-west winds, stronger towards Atlantic coasts. Lowest temperatures tonight will be 6° to 11°, occurring early in the night.
Tomorrow morning (Wednesday, October 28) will start mostly cloudy with outbreaks of rain in the north and well-scattered showers in other areas.
From late morning onwards it will be largely dry with just isolated showers and some sunny spells.
Highest temperatures will be 13° to 15° with moderate to fresh south-westerly winds in the morning, decreasing light to moderate and becoming southerly later.
Apart from isolated light showers, it will be dry and partly cloudy on Wednesday night. Lowest temperatures will be 9° to 12° with light to moderate southerly winds.
It will be mostly cloudy on Thursday (October 29) with isolated patches of light rain or drizzle. The best of any sunny spells will likely be in the east and north-east.
During the evening, more persistent rain or drizzle will move into the south-west and west. It will become breezy again with a moderate to fresh southerly wind developing, strong in coastal areas. Highest temperatures will be 13° or 14°.
Thursday night will be cloudy and breezy with rain moving eastwards across the country. It will be become drier and calmer in western areas overnight as the rain clears.
Lowest temperatures will be 9° to 13° with fresh to strong and gusty southerly winds, becoming light to moderate and westerly over the western half of the country by morning.
The cloud and rain will gradually clear from the east on Friday morning (October 30), leaving dry and bright conditions for most. However, more cloud will move in from the south during the afternoon and evening, possibly bringing a few showers.
Highest temperatures will be 13° to 16° with moderate to fresh southerly winds in the east at first, but otherwise winds will be light and variable.
Met Éireann has indicated that next weekend is set to see higher pressure build, possibly bringing drier and clearer weather.
