The Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM) issued over €2.17 million in outstanding scheme payments to farmers over the past week.

The latest data from the department shows that payments worth €1.25 million were made under the 2023 Basic Income Support for Sustainability (BISS) and Complimentary Redistributive Income Support for Sustainability (CRISS).

This means that as of today (Friday, April 5), 119,726 farmers have now received BISS and CRISS payments totalling €825.21 million.

This figure includes 2023 Complementary Income Support for Young Farmers (€30.5 million) and 2023 National Reserve (€4.3 million).

No additional payments were made by the department to farmers who are in the Eco-Scheme over the past week.

DAFM said that some 119,319 farmers have now been allocated a total of €305.7 million under the scheme.

The department figures show that €679,522 was also paid out over the past week under the Targeted Agricultural Modernisation Schemes (TAMS).

Farmers who are part of the Organic Farming Scheme (OFS) received payments worth €116,793 last week.

To date, 3,837 farmers have received their 2023 OFS payment bringing the overall total payments made under the scheme to €39.3 million.

€116,084 was paid to farmers under the 2022 Areas of Natural Constraint (ANC) and Areas of Specific Constraint (ASC) schemes.

Over 99,200 farmers have received a total €248.6 million as a result of these measures.

€11,000 was also paid out to farmers for outstanding payments under the Green, Low-carbon, Agri-Environment Scheme (GLAS).

Earlier this week, the department confirmed that it has now approved nearly 80% of applications made by farmers under tranche 1 of the new TAMS 3.

A further 169 applications were granted approval since between Monday, March 25 and Tuesday, April 2.

The department has now signed off on 6,529 out of a total 8,203 applications. 926 applications are currently deemed to be “in progress”.

The statistics show that 544 applications have been rejected to date, while 204 have been withdrawn by farmers or their advisors.
