Children of all ages will be able to virtually pull on their overalls and head out harvesting from next month, with the expansion of the ‘Farming Simulator’ game to include a children’s version, in association with John Deere.

Publisher and developer, GIANTS Software announced the release date of March 26, along with the first gameplay trailer.

The trailer shows the life of “an aspiring young farmer” available on Nintendo Switch and mobile.

The original Farming Simulator will remain available, but this game will feature new animals and characters.

The game will include aspects of the original, but in a simple format, according to GIANTS.

Farming Simulator Kids

There will be no gameplay goals for young players, which will allow them to virtually explore different locations.

Children will be able to virtually milk cows; plant and harvest crops; and hop into the seat of a John Deere tractor.

They will be able to own farm animal such as cows, chickens, or geese. Domestic and wild animals will also make appearances on farm.

There will be over 10 different crops to harvest and over 75 food items.

Children can visit their own farmers’ market to feel the value of the fresh produce they grew and looked after. They can also trade items at a swap shop and create food items from produce.

The gameplay will focus on audiovisual representation rather than text, with characters displaying their needs to farmers.

Creative director at GIANTS software, Thomas Frey said: “We’re thrilled beyond measure to introduce young children to farming in a playful and sheltered way.

“With John Deere as our ideal partner for Farming Simulator Kids, we’re creating an educational and unforgettable – even inspiring – farming game for young players, one that may even nurture their general interest in farming.”
