Some clear and dry spells this weekend, but possibility of heavy showers – Met Eireann
Friday will have a mixture of sunny spells and scattered showers, with the northwest affected most by showers, says Met Eireann, while the south and southeast will enjoy some dry spells.
Winds will be mostly moderate, but will become fresh and gusty in the northwest. With highest temperatures between 16 to 19 degrees forecast.
Friday night will be mainly dry, apart from a few showers in the northwest and west, according to Met Eireann. However, rain is promised to reach western counties later in the night.
Rain is forecast across the country on Saturday morning, turning heavy in parts of the south and southeast. This heavy rain may spread to the west and north as the day goes on, Met Eireann says.
Rain will clear to showers and the clouds will break on Saturday night, with light to moderate winds veering west to northwest promised.
Some showers will persist early on Sunday morning, but it will be mainly dry with bright conditions developing for the afternoon and evening.
Dry and mostly clear conditions will hold for most of Sunday night, but rain will arrive in western areas by dawn on Monday and continue to spread eastwards, Met Eireann says.
Monday will see rain spread to most parts of the country but some areas will stay largely dry, according to the forecast. It will be very mild and humid with light to moderate wind promised.
It will become quite warm and humid in most places for Tuesday and the midweek period, says Met Eireann, due to the persistence of mainly southerly breezes.
There will be a mixture of cloud and bright or sunny intervals and, while southern and western coastal counties will have spells of rain or drizzle, other areas are likely to be largely dry, the forecast says.
The risk of heavy rainfall this weekend could have an affect on the trafficability of some soils especially across Munster and Leinster, according to Met Eireann.
