Poultry organisation, St David’s Poultry Team, are hosting two free events for egg producers on March 6 and 7.

Poultry vets and industry guest speakers will share examples of ways in which you as producers, can develop your business to maximise your profitability.

There will also be discussion on the future of the industry and how planning for new and existing houses may impact that.

Poultry organisation

St David’s Poultry Team is the leading independent poultry veterinary practice in the UK and Ireland, with 15 practice bases.

They offer a complete veterinary service across the whole poultry sector; from pullet rearers, commercial egg laying companies and layer farms, to broiler breeders and rearers, hatcheries and broiler farms.

The team is made up of 27 vets, field services technicians, in-house laboratories including microbiologists, as well as dispensary and office support teams.

Why is this important?

The huge production potential of the modern layer can make this new bird increasingly vulnerable to disease and performance issues.

The St David’s Poultry Team as a practice have been involved in developing practical and easy strategies to help you as farmers maximise this potential and get the very best out of your flocks.

For example, they work with a number of free-range farms which have successfully produced multiple laying flocks with low mortality and good performance, and who are over 100-weeks-of-age.

Good for the birds, good for the environment and financially good for you.

They have the knowledge and experience to help you with challenges that may impact on the performance of your birds and the productivity of your flock.

They find long-term and cost-effective solutions which work for you, and not just short-term fixes.

St David’s Poultry Team clinical director for Ireland, Aonghus Lane, said: “As a practice we are not just vets, we are advisors who want to ensure that our customers are as successful as possible in bird health and welfare, achieving high levels of performance and profitability.

“I’m looking forward to getting together with others from the industry to share knowledge and experiences, as well as to discuss the future direction and opportunities of egg production.”
