Conditions will be quite dry this weekend, according to Met Eireann, with the National Ploughing Championships scheduled to begin early next week.

This morning, Friday, is expected to be bright and breezy with sunny spells and some scattered showers.

These showers will be mainly in the north and west this morning, but they are likely to become more widespread this afternoon.

Some good dry periods are also forecast, as temperatures reach highs of 13º to 16º in moderate to fresh north to northwest breezes.

It is set to be dry in most areas overnight, with clear spells dominant and temperatures dropping to between 6º to 9º. There will be a risk of a few isolated showers near north and northwest coasts.

Drying conditions are expected to be variable over the next few days due to showers, but it is likely that they will improve on Sunday and early next week in most parts of the country.

Meanwhile, there will be some good opportunities for spraying on Sunday, with light variable winds and conditions set to be dry, Met Eireann added.

Tomorrow

Tomorrow morning, Saturday, is forecast to be mainly dry with sunny spells and just a few coastal showers.

There is a danger of showery rain developing in the north around midday. This rain could spread southwards through the afternoon and evening.

Rain will clear in the north towards nightfall, as temperatures range between 12º to 14º in light northerly breezes. Rain will affect many areas early tomorrow night, but showers are expected to clear southeastwards as the night progresses.

Sunday

With an area of high pressure set to develop, a bright and fine day is likely to be in store on Sunday – with variable cloud and spells of pleasant sunshine possible on the day of the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship Final.

Winds will be very light, but temperatures are forecast to stay in the mid teens. Conditions will remain dry on Sunday night, though it’ll be distinctly cool with extensive mist, according to Met Eireann.

Outlook

Another dry day is expected on Monday, though it is likely to be cloudier than the previous days. Some sunny breaks are also forecast.

Winds will be light or variable and there is a possibility of temperatures reaching the high teens.

Early indications suggest that Tuesday – the first day of the National Ploughing Championships in Screggan, Tullamore, Co. Offaly – will be humid with outbreaks of rain forecast in the west and north. Other areas are set to be cloudy and very mild.

On Wednesday, conditions are expected to be mostly cloudy with rain affecting all areas.
