Dry weather and increasing temperatures expected until weekend

Met Éireann is forecasting dry weather and increasing temperatures for most of this week, before more unsettled conditions develop next weekend.

It will be warm or very warm today (Monday, June 22), with a mix of cloud and sunny spells to start, cloudiest for Connacht and Ulster with some rain and drizzle.

Good spells of sunshine will become more widespread from the south through the afternoon.

While it will stay dry for most, a few sharp thundery showers are possible, mainly in the south and east.

Highest temperatures will be 22°C to 27° generally, a little cooler in parts of Ulster and near coasts with light easterly or variable breezes, occasionally moderate near coasts.

Tonight will be mild, dry and largely clear, with fog patches developing in light variable breezes. Temperatures will not fall below 12° to 17°.

It will continue dry for most tomorrow (Tuesday, June 23), with long spells of sunshine.

It will be a little cloudier at times in the west and north with the chance of isolated light showers.

Highest temperatures will be 22° to 28° or 29° generally, warmest in the south and east, ranging 19° to 21° near Atlantic coasts, in light, occasionally moderate westerly or variable breezes.

It will be dry and mostly clear at first tomorrow night, before cloud builds from the west with a few spots of light rain or drizzle possible in the north-west. Some southern and eastern areas will stay clear.

Temperatures tomorrow night will not fall below 13° to 18° in light northerly or variable breezes with some fog patches developing.

On Wednesday (June 24), it will be rather cloudy in the morning away from the south and east with a few spots of light rain or drizzle.

The cloud will break up through the day with spells of sunshine developing with a few showers too, mainly for the north-west and west.

Highest temperatures on Wednesday will be 22° to 29°, highest generally for the southern half of the country, in light easterly or variable breezes.

Wednesday night will see a mix of cloud and clear spells. It will be dry for most but a few showers are possible, mainly for the north-west.

Temperatures will not fall below 13° in the north and 18° or 19° in the south-west, in light, occasionally moderate easterly breezes.

Thursday (June 25) will be a hot day. It will be mostly dry and sunny to start but a few showers may break out through the day, potentially heavy and thundery, especially in the north-west in the evening.

Highest temperatures will be 25° to 31° generally in light to moderate south-easterly winds.

It will turn cloudier from the south overnight with patchy rain and drizzle. Temperatures overnight will not fall below 15° to 19°.

Friday (June 26) will see a mix of cloud and sunshine with showery rain, heaviest and most persistent for the western half of the country.

Highest temperatures will be 19° to 25°, warmest in the east, in mostly moderate southerly winds.

For next weekend, the weather will turn more unsettled, with spells of rain and showers and lower temperatures.
