The Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM) has approved almost 70% of applications made under tranche 1 of the new Targeted Agricultural Modernisation Scheme (TAMS 3).

The latest data published today (Monday, March 4) by the department shows that a further 357 applications received approval in the past week.

This means that 5,635 out of 8,203 applications lodged with DAFM by farmers have now been approved.

The department said that 1,882 applications are currently “in progress”, 483 have been rejected and 203 were withdrawn.

The full list of schemes under TAMS 3 with the most recent numbers of approvals is outlined below:

The department data shows that all application made under the Low Emission Slurry Spreading (LESS) measure have now been dealt with.

537 out of 551 applications were approved, 3 were rejected and 11 were withdrawn.

Over 86% (385) of 445 applications made under the Tillage Capital Investment Scheme have now been approved, just 14 applications are still being processed, 29 have been rejected and 17 were withdrawn.

Seven out of the 49 applications for the Pig and Poultry Investment Scheme are still being processed.

There were 19 further approvals granted by the department under the Women Farmer Capital Investment Scheme (WFCIS) over the past week.

108 out of 259 applications for the scheme have been approved, 129 are “in progress”, 15 were rejected and 7 were withdrawn.

77% (720) of the 928 applications made for the Organic Capital Investment Scheme have been granted, 160 applications are still being considered, 29 were rejected and 19 were withdrawn.

TAMS

Meanwhile, the priority approval mechanism for applications to tranche 2 of TAMS is currently open for farmers who need to commence grant-aided works urgently.

Farmer who need to avail of this option are advised to contact their local DAFM office so their application can be assessed.

9,110 applications were made under TAMS tranche 2 by the closing date of January 19.

Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine Charlie McConalogue has said that all eligible applications will be approved under tranche 2.

It was previously announced that tranche 3 of the scheme will close for applications on Friday, April 12, 2024.
