A child sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to hospital following a collision involving a tractor in Co. Clare.

Gardaí confirmed they are investigating the road traffic collision involving a juvenile on a bicycle and a tractor.

The collision occurred at approximately 6:00p.m on Monday (August 10) on the L8192 Bealkelly, Ogonnelloe, in Co. Clare.

In a statement, a spokesperson for An Garda Síochána said: "The juvenile sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to Galway University Hospital before being transferred to Crumlin Children's Hospital to be treated for injuries believed to be serious.

"A full forensic examination of the scene has been completed, and the road has since been reopened."

Leitrim incident

This week, a man aged in his 90s died following an incident involving a tractor in Co. Leitrim.

The incident occurred at Aughawillian, Garadice, Ballinamore, Co. Leitrim.

In a statement, a spokesperson for An Garda Síochána said: "Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of a work place accident at Aughawillian, Garadice, Ballinamore, Co. Leitrim, this afternoon, Tuesday, August 11, 2026 at approximately 4.40pm.

"A male, aged in his 90s was fatally injured and his body has since been removed from the scene to the mortuary where a post mortem will take place.

"A file will be prepared for the Coroners Court."
