A man aged in his 90s has died following an incident involving a tractor in Co. Leitrim this afternoon (Thursday, August 11).
The incident occurred at Aughawillian, Garadice, Ballinamore, Co. Leitrim.
In a statement, a spokesperson for An Garda Síochána said: "Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of a work place accident at Aughawillian, Garadice, Ballinamore, Co. Leitrim, this afternoon, Tuesday, August 11, 2026 at approximately 4.40pm.
"A male, aged in his 90s was fatally injured and his body has since been removed from the scene to the mortuary where a post mortem will take place.
"A file will be prepared for the Coroners Court."
The Health and Safety Authority (HSA) has also confirmed it "is aware of the fatal incident and has launched an investigation".
A statement from the HSA said: "As such, no further information is available."
Separately, a man was hospitalised after an incident involving livestock at Ballinamore Agricultural Show, Agriland understands.
The agricultural show took place in Co. Leitrim today (Tuesday, August 11).
Speaking to Agriland this evening, a spokesperson for the show confirmed that the air ambulance had arrived at the scene.
The spokesperson also confirmed to Agriland that the show's safety officer received a report on the incident and that the Civil Defence were also on site at the event.
The spokesperson indicated that the man was taken to hospital.
According to the agricultural show spokesperson a bovine animal was involved in the incident.
It is understood that the man suffered a leg injury but it is not believed to be life threatening.
