When starting out in a new career or business, we can often focus on the technical skills we need. However, getting a foundation knowledge in business fundamentals and principles for career success are essential to have in your toolbox.

If you are a young person getting started, or simply starting out in a new career or business, Macra Agricultural Skillnet is hosting a series of business training webinars.

The series will be delivered by Lynaire Ryan, New Zealand based agri-business consultant with years of experience training Irish farmers. The series will be facilitated by Paidí Kelly, Teagasc researcher.

The webinars will run nightly from 7:30pm to 9:15pm as follows:

  • Tuesday, December 1: Steps to Wealth Creation;
  • Monday, December 7: Equity Growth and setting financial goals;
  • Tuesday, December 15: Strategic Planning;
  • Tuesday, January 5: Building and Understanding your Team;
  • Tuesday, January 12: Farmer Panel Discussion – three farmers.

Delivered by Lynaire Ryan from Agribusiness Education, which primarily offers education for dairy farmers in business, strategic management, and personal development.

The webinars will be hosted by Paidi Kelly, Teagasc. Paidi has helped many farmers get into new business arrangements like share farming, partnerships and leasing and has also set up his own farming business in a partnership which operates on all leased land.

After taking part in this webinar series, participants will have a clear understanding of the principles that drive financial progress, they will have a template of how to develop a strategic plan and feel confident in how to set and achieve goals.

They will also have a better understanding of their own personality type and how to leverage their strengths and work best with other people. As a result of these five webinars participants will have an excellent foundation from which to drive future career progress.

The webinars will be presented via Zoom, and recorded for participants to watch should they miss a scheduled time or wish to review the webinar.

To get the full benefit from the series, participants will be required to complete preparatory exercises and reading between webinars. There is also the opportunity for one-on-one follow up with the presenters following the webinar.
