Kverneland Group Ireland and Abbey Retail have announced a new partnership with the appointment of Abbey Retail to the Kverneland agency for Co. Tipperary.

Abbey Retail, a division of Abbey Machinery, has strong ties going back many years to the Tipperary community with the company opening for business in 2003.

Servicing Tipperary farmers with two branches, in Nenagh and Clerihan, the company has long been associated with the Abbey range of machinery and Massey Ferguson tractors. The company has 22 staff and 11 service vehicles.

With Abbey Retail’s considerable base of customers, from both the farming and contracting sector, both Sean Kinane, manager of Abbey Retail, and Philip English, managing director of Kverneland Group Ireland, believe the time is now right to expand the product offering to include the respected Kverneland and McConnel brands.

‘Huge potential’

Kverneland Group Ireland, based in Co. Kilkenny, is part of the Kverneland Group, a leading international agricultural company developing, producing and distributing agricultural machinery.

Founded in 1879 with the iconic Kverneland plough, so beloved of every tillage farmer and ploughing competitor in the country, it now has a strong focus on providing exceptional customer service through innovation and quality machinery for today’s modern forward thinking and cost conscious farmer and contractor.

Philip English of Kverneland Ireland commented: “Tipperary is number two in new tractors sales registered by county in Ireland, and also number two in the dairy cow population by count.

“If we combine this with a very strong tillage farming sector, it is clearly a very important county for Kverneland.

We have one of the widest product ranges from a machinery manufacturer including, ploughs, cultivation, seeding, spraying, fertiliser spreading, mowers, rakes, tedders, balers and bale choppers, making the partnership of Kverneland and Abbey Retail the premier choice for Tipperary farmers and contractors.

Sean Kinane of Abbey Retail spoke about the opportunity the Kverneland brand offers to expand into the tillage machinery sector.

“We see the huge potential in particular in Kverneland’s newly launched Trailed U-Drill, especially the 6M model. We are excited to get out and about, demonstrating the range of tillage equipment to both current and future Kverneland customers.

“We are particularly confident in growing the tillage customer base in the county, as we now have all the ingredients in place with the Kverneland range and our own proven record with our current range of machinery and customer base.”

Noting Abbey Retail’s fleet of service vans, Philip English said: “We believe Abbey Retail is a natural partnership to Kverneland in the provision of quality machinery tied to a real commitment to customer focus.”

High output machinery

With an extensive product range covering arable, cropcare and forage machinery, Kverneland and Abbey Retail will be a very attractive distributor to the Tipperary farming and contracting community.

“Our high output machinery is designed to increase productivity, reduce running costs while maintaining a high trade-in value which makes Kverneland machinery a very popular choice and an ideal partner for Abbey Retail.”

Philip continued, adding:

“With the inclusion of the innovative Fastbale, the world’s only non-stop baler round wrapper combination, the newly launched Trailed U-Drill in 3, 4 and 6M operating widths and the T series of trailed sprayers, with boom size up to 45M and tank capacity up to 6,000L and the ground breaking I-Plough, Kverneland can surely lay claim to ambition and innovation as part of our company’s DNA.
