Gardaí have said they are liaising with the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine, as well as Tipperary County Council, after animal remains were recently found dumped near Cashel.
A Garda spokesperson told AgriLand that a call was received in relation to the presence of animal remains at a location in the Killenaule area to the east of Cashel.
Meanwhile, RTÉ has reported that a number of dead calves have been discovered in the county in other areas.
Members of the public discovered the remains of calves at locations near Rossmore and Derryville in recent times.
According to the report, the county council has been required to dispose of 14 dead calves recently.
Dead lambs dumped
As reported by AgriLand this week, Kerry County Council is appealing for information and assistance from the public in relation to the discovery of the remains of several lambs in the River Blackwater in the south of the county.
Council staff were alerted in recent days to the dumping of approximately eight dead lambs in the river, close to the R568 Moll’s Gap to Sneem road, and have commenced an investigation.
County vet with Kerry County Council, Paddy Fenton, described the dumping of the remains of animals in this way as “absolutely appalling”.
“This is a really shocking incident. We have begun an investigation which will include DNA testing of the remains,” Fenton said.
