There’s a mild weekend ahead and while there will be some thundery showers on Saturday, Met Eireann has forecast warm and humid weather for next week.

Today, Friday, is forecast to be a dry with sunny spells, however it will become cloudier in the southeast in the evening.

Highest temperatures today will range between 12 and 14 degrees in Connacht, Ulster and along coasts.

Met Eireann has forecast for it to be warmer for much of Munster and Leinster with highs of 15 to 17 degrees and moderate northeast breezes.

Friday night will be close, humid and misty, with fairly widespread rain or showers giving some thundery downpours in places.

Lowest temperatures tonight will range between 6 to 9 degrees, in a moderate to fresh northeasterly breeze.

There will be further rain or showers tomorrow morning, Saturday, and these will be heavy and possibly thundery at times, with a risk of some spot flooding.

Drying conditions will be mostly good but are expected to deteriorate during Saturday due to widespread rain and at times due to showers early on over the southern half of the country.

However, drier and somewhat brighter conditions, with some hazy sunshine, may develop over parts of Munster and Leinster later, according to Met Eireann.

Top temperatures on Saturday will range between 11 and 14 degrees generally, but up to 16 or 17 degrees in sunshine.

Winds on Saturday will be moderate and occasionally fresh east to northeasterly, while some sea mist and fog may affect exposed coastal areas also.

It will be misty overnight on Saturday with fog in places and there will be some showers scattered about too, but many areas are forecast to remain dry. Saturday night is promised to be a mild and close night with lows of 7 to 10 degrees.

Met Eireann has forecast for Sunday to be a very mild day, with some good spells of hazy sunshine, but some showers breaking out too, with parts of Munster and south Leinster, most at risk.

Highest temperatures on Sunday look set to range between 14 and 20 degrees, the best of these in the sunshine.

Current indications from Met Eireann for next week suggest that it will be warm and humid up to midweek, with temperatures in the high teens generally and in the low twenties in some places, the best values in midland and western areas.

It will be mostly dry and fairly sunny next week but some heavy or possibly thundery showers may drift up over the country, from the south and southeast, at times.
