A total of €6,000 in student scholarships is on offer in honour of a former President of the Irish Creamery Milk Suppliers Association (ICMSA), John Feely.

Farm students have been invited to apply for this year’s round of John Feely Scholarships by the ICMSA. Completed application forms must be submitted by Friday, October 6.

The Chairperson of the John Feely Foundation, John Comer, announced this week that the body will award four scholarships in the amount of €1,500 each to sons or daughters of ICMSA members.

In order to be eligible, students must be enrolled full-time and attending a recognised agricultural college, Comer – the current President of the ICMSA – added.

Recognised agricultural institutions include colleges such as Gurteen, Clonakilty, Kildalton, Pallaskenry, Mountbellew and Ballyhaise.

The successful students will be selected by a supervised draw and a presentation will be made before the end of this year.

Students from counties Offaly, Waterford, Limerick and Tipperary successfully obtained John Feely Scholarships last year. Traditionally, a large entry of applications is expected from all over the country.

In order to apply, a member of the ICMSA must nominate a student by providing his or her name, address and the name of the college they’re attending.

The nominator must also provide their own name and ICMSA number, together with a mobile phone number, to complete the application.

Entries can be posted to ‘John Feely Scholarships, ICMSA, Dublin Road, Limerick’ or emailed to: [email protected]. Entries received after the closing date of 5:00pm on Friday, October 6 will not be entertained.
