Finnish tractor brand Valtra has introduced its sixth generation T series, which falls into the mid-sized horsepower segment.
According to Valtra, the new T series tractor is designed with the needs of professional farmers and agricultural contractors in mind.
A finalist in the 2027 Tractor Of The Year awards MidPower category, the machine is almost a completely redesign of the last T series, from the engine to the operator interface and the tractor's platform.
Agriland was recently invited along to view the new tractor at a private event at Gurteen Agricultural College, Co. Tipperary.
The new Valtra T series tractors come with the AGCO Power Core 75 engine, which recently popped up in the Massey Ferguson 7S Mark 2 and originally featured in the Fendt Gen7 700 series.
The 7.5L six-cylinder engine won the prestigious Engine of the Year award in 2023 at the annual Diesel Progress Summit.
Valtra's six models in the new line deliver a range of 170-245hp and top torque of 814-1184Nm.
While the T series can come with the ML180 Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) like the 7S Mark 2 (which originally came from the Gen6 700 series), Valtra still offers a PowerShift option.
The smooth and stepless CVT can offer speeds of up to 57km/h, keeping full torque available while reducing workload.
The PowerShift option can also offer speeds of up to 57km/h while maintaining the straightforward reputation of such a transmission.
The modern cab design is built around operator comfort and providing a high level of visibility.
It offers 6.22m2 window area, allowing farmers and operators to see the work they are doing clearly.
The spacious cabin manages to restrict noise to just 69dB, which helps reduce operator fatigue.
The sixth generation T series comes with two options for the digital display - the SmartTouch Gen2 and the Active Gen2 armrests.
The SmartTouch Gen 2 terminal brings a responsive 12" customisable touchscreen with programmable buttons and intuitive interface.
The Active Gen2 features a modular design that facilitates upgrades such as the Parker joystick, which is available via the Unlimited package.
The console delivers a simple yet thorough experience without attaching a monitor to the armrest.
The cab also has strategically placed wipers - including one on large side window when optioned over a second door - and lights.
The high-output LED work lights give clear and even visibility, helping to facilitate work in the dark.
The LEDs can be controlled individually, but also can be given task profiles across operators on the SmartTouch Gen2 display.
The sixth generation T series tractors will also feature the Unlimited Ultra package.
According to Valtra, the package combines "selected Unlimited features, smart farming technology and comfort-enhancing cab equipment in one carefully curated specification.
"At its core, the Valtra Unlimited Ultra package combines operator comfort with advanced farming technology.
"Automatic air conditioning, AutoComfort cab air suspension, lighting solutions, heated mirrors and a right-side window wiper enhance everyday usability, visibility and ride quality."
The Ultra package receives Valtra's "full stack" smart farming technologies, including Valtra Guide centimetre accuracy, Auto U-pilot, and Valtra SmartTurn, aimed at helping to reduce operator fatigue.
Inside the cab, the Ultra seat with a massage functionality is finished in Alcantara upholstery.
Customers have the choice of a 12L thermal cool box or a corner table to the right of the steering wheel.
Additional features include a wireless charging phone holder, higher specification roof finish, and a gooseneck microphone.
The new Valtra T series is coming in at the right specs to compete in Ireland.
The mid-sized range is a highly contested market in Ireland, as tractors in this segment combine power, versatility, and efficiency.
Agriland understands that 57 of these Valtra tractors are set to come to Ireland, with potential for that number to rise.
It is estimated that up to six of these will arrive with the PowerShift option, with the rest coming as CVT models.
According to one source, Valtra is targeting the power segment in Ireland.
If it manages to sell all 57 T series machines, it would find itself amongst the top brands for the MidPower class.
