Brazilian exports of poultry meat are continuing to grow according to the Brazilian Animal Protein Association (ABPA).
Latest figures from the organisation show Brazilian exports of poultry meat hit "500.3 thousand tons" in September - which was up 3.7% year on year.
At a recent global agribusiness event in Sao Paulo, Brazil, Ricardo Santin, president of ABPA, told Agriland that Brazil currently has over 37% of the global market share in the poultry industry.
Last month ABPA, which is major animal protein association that represents the poultry and pork sectors in Brazil, welcomed the European Commission's final report on the audit conducted in Brazil on the poultry and honey supply chains.
According to the ABPA president, the report "is an important recognition of the serious and consistent work of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock, the state secretariats and their professionals, together with the Brazilian production chain".
"The favorable assessment demonstrates the capacity of our official system to offer the guarantees required by the European Union and represents a concrete step forward for the resumption of poultry meat exports," the president ABPA said.
He also outlined to Agriland that Brazil is a significant pork producer and exporter globally. He said the country has 14% of the global pork export market share.
According to Santin "65% of what we produce stays here in chicken and 70% in pork.
"We slaughter something like 25 million chicks per day day, and we produce a lot of eggs, something like 1,800 eggs per second, and a lot of pork as well, 3.5 million pigs per month," he outlined.
According to Santin access for Brazilian chicken into Europe again would be a big development for the industry.
He expects Europe to be a big market for Brazilian chicken.
Santin said: "In chicken we are we have a very strong partnership [with the EU]. It's more than 20 years that we supply especially breasts.
"We complement the local industry. We make the price more affordable for the consumers in European Union".
