The weather this coming week will be unsettled and blustery, before likely turning more mixed as the week goes on, according to Met Éireann.

Met Éireann has issued a status yellow warning for wind for two counties tomorrow (Tuesday, September 29).

The warning applies to counties Cork and Kerry and will come into effect at 1:00p.m tomorrow afternoon, remaining in effect until 9:00p.m at night.

These areas will see very strong and gusty south-easterly winds, with the potential for difficult travelling conditions; fallen trees and branches; debris and displacement of loose objects; and wave overtopping.

Today (Monday, September 28) will be dry and bright for most with spells of sunshine, turning hazy at times, and just isolated showers.

Highest temperatures will be 14° to 17° with a light to moderate south to south-east breeze.

It will be dry for most tonight with clear spells. It will turn cloudier over the southern half of the country overnight with patchy rain and drizzle developing towards morning.

Lowest temperatures will be 9° to 14°, with a light to moderate south-easterly breeze, freshening towards morning.

Tomorrow (Tuesday, September 29) will be windy with south-easterly winds increasing fresh to strong and gusty, and reaching near gale force in the afternoon and evening.

There will be some early bright spells in the north but cloudy elsewhere with patchy rain and drizzle.

More persistent rain will develop in the south-west early in the afternoon and will move north-eastwards through the afternoon and evening, turning heavy in places with localised flooding possible.

Tomorrow will be a mild and humid day, with highest temperatures of 17° to 20°.

Tomorrow night, rain will clear north-eastwards to scattered showers and clear spells from the south-west early on.

The showers will be heavy, blustery and possibly thundery at times, especially in the south and west.

Strong to near gale south-easterly winds will veer southerly with the clearance of the rain, and ease moderate to fresh, stronger near coasts. Lowest temperatures will be 10° to 14°.

Wednesday (September 30) is set to be blustery, with sunny spells and widespread showers, some heavy and thundery.

Highest temperatures will be 15° to 18° in fresh southerly winds, stronger near western coasts.

Winds will ease on Wednesday night and it will turn drier for most as showers become confined to the west with plenty of clear spells. Lowest temperatures will be 8° to 12° in mostly light southerly breezes.

Thursday (October 1) will be dry for many with sunny spells and scattered showers. However, a spell of more persistent rain is likely to move into the west later in the day.

Highest temperatures will be 14° to 17° in moderate, occasionally fresh, south-west winds, backing southerly later.

For Friday (October 2), Met Éireann said there is some uncertainty in the detail, but outbreaks of rain are currently likely to move in from the west.

Highest temperatures should be between 14° and 18° with moderate to fresh southerly winds.

For next weekend, Met Éireann said there "is a signal" for a ridge of high pressure to build through the weekend, with drier and more settled weather developing.
