A Status Yellow wind warning has also been issued.

The warning will be in effect from 6:00a.m to 6:00p.m on Wednesday.

Met Éireann said south-westerly winds will be very strong at times - especially along the coasts.

Potential impacts include:

  • Debris, loose objects displaced;
  • Difficult driving and cycling conditions;
  • Some fallen trees, branches;
  • Large coastal waves combined with moderate surge may lead to wave overtopping in exposed coastal areas.

Overall this week, there will be mixed conditions with spells of rain and showers, but also some drier periods.

It will be breezy or windy at times too.

It is expected to turn colder and more settled late in the week and for next weekend.
