The World Sheep Shearing Championships re-commenced at 3.15pm this afternoon, after a two hour postponement.  Earlier in the afternoon the sheep dome, which is housing all of the shearing competitions, had to be evacuated for health and safety reasons.

People in the marquee heard a loud bang, after which the tent shifted to one side.

On site repairs were immediately carried out by the team of stewards in attendance. The event organisers have confirmed to Agriland that a structural engineer had certified the work undertaken and gave permission for the marquee to be brought back into service.
