Met Éireann has issued several status yellow warnings for wind and rain for today (Tuesday, September 29) and tomorrow (Wednesday, September 30).

A warning for wind is currently in effect for all of Munster. The warning will remain in place until 9:00p.m tonight.

Very strong and gusty south-easterly winds are expected in the province, which may lead to wave overtopping and flooding on coasts; difficult travelling conditions; some fallen trees and branches; and debris and loose objects displaced.

Separately, a warning for rain is currently in effect for counties Cork, Kerry and Waterford.

This warning will also remain in effect until 9:00p.m tonight, with spells of heavy rain expected, with the potential for localised flooding, difficult travelling conditions and poor visibility.

A further warning for wind, impacting counties Galway, Mayo and Sligo, came into effect at 3:00p.m this afternoon and, again, remains in effect until 9:00p.m tonight.

Similarly to the wind warning for the Munster, very strong and gusty south-easterly winds are expected, with potential impacts including difficult travelling conditions; some fallen trees and branches; and debris and loose objects displaced.

Finally, a rain warning will come into effect at 9:00p.m tonight for counties Wexford and Wicklow.

This warning will remain in place until 4:00a.m tomorrow morning, with spells of heavy rain expected, with the possibility of localised flooding, difficult travelling conditions, and poor visibility.

Weather

In general across the country, it will be windy today, with strong and gusty south-easterly winds reaching gale force near coasts.

Outbreaks of rain will continue to turn heavier and more persistent from the southwest through the afternoon and evening with localised flooding possible.

Highest afternoon temperatures will be 15° to 19° or 20°.

Tonight will continue wet for a time across eastern and northeastern parts, with an ongoing chance of localised flooding at first.

Drier and clearer conditions to the south and west will gradually extend to all parts overnight, with scattered showers following from the Atlantic.

Strong and gusty south-easterly winds will ease light to moderate southerly overland as the rain clears, but winds will continue fresh to strong along coasts.

Lowest temperatures tonight will be 10° to 14°.
