Carlow-based machinery dealer, Kellys of Borris, will hold a ‘Monster Tillage Demo Day’, showcasing its range of Horsch and Dal-bo machinery, this Friday (July 28).

The demo day will take place on Clive Bailey’s farm in Ballickmoyler, Co. Carlow, which is located 4 miles (6.4km) from Carlow on the Portlaoise road (N80).

The implements will be coupled to a range of Claas tractors, according to Kellys.

In terms of individual models, there will be a Horsch Leeb LT trailed sprayer present which will be driven through a “bumpy” obstacle course, demonstrating its “boom strength”.

There will also be three Horsch drills – a Pronto, a Sprinter and a KR Onepass – on the day, while the Terrano and Joker ranges of cultivators will also make appearances – for both ploughed and ‘min-till’ ground.

The demo day will run from 7:00am until 3:00pm and will provide breakfast and refreshments for visitors, while they observe the machinery being put to the test.

Jonathon Leech, a member of the Kellys sales team, commented on the demo day, stating: “This is the third year of live demonstrations, which have been very well received in other years.

Customers like the demos; compared to a static stand it makes a real difference. They can see the machines in action before purchase, instead of just going by the look of it when it’s shiny and new at a show.

Leech said that there will be information at the event on the TAMS II (Targeted Agricultural Modernisation Scheme) tillage scheme, while representatives from Horsch will be on hand to give advice also.

“The location will be well signposted out the Portlaoise road from Carlow,” Leech added.

Maurice Kelly, of Kellys of Borris, also noted: “All are welcome to join us for breakfast, which will start at 7:00am.

It’s a great opportunity to see the machines working. There will be a demo run at 7:30am with another at 10:30am.

“There will be a range of Dal-bo rollers, from 6m to 24m, with Dal-bo’s unique patented ‘snowflake’ roller system. The MaxiRoll models – with a unique rotation system – will be on show.”

Kelly concluded: “The day is a great opportunity to see the drills and sprayers in working mode, and provides the opportunity to ask any questions about TAMS.”
