Met Éireann warns of 'dense' fog patches overnight

Met Éireann has issued a Status Yellow warning for heavy fog in parts of the country tonight (Monday, November 2).

The national forecaster said that area of dense fog will develop in Connacht, Cavan, Donegal and Monaghan.

Meanwhile, high pressure is expected to dominate our weather for much of this week bringing settled and mainly dry conditions.

Met Éireann said rainfall amounts are expected to be average towards the south and east or below average elsewhere for the coming week.

Mean air temperatures are expected to fall back during the coming seven days, ranging from a degree below average in parts to 2°C above average elsewhere, to between 6° and 11°.

Mean soil temperatures are also expected to decrease.

Light winds and relatively low temperatures will result in drying conditions being moderate at best.

As the week progresses, the breeze will strengthen which may bring better drying conditions.

With the dry weather and light winds, Met Éireann said there should be plenty of opportunities for spraying in the coming days.

Soil moisture deficits for well and moderately drained soils are between 0mm and 4mm across the country.

Most poorly drained soils are reported to be saturated with values between -4mm and -9mm.

Soil moisture deficits are expected to stay broadly similar or slightly increase over the coming week.
