Machinery distributor, McHale Plant Sales, has opened a UK logistics centre near Leeds in West Yorkshire (England).

It will be used primarily as a transportation, storage and transit centre for its growing trade in used machinery.

Looking forward, the company says that the facility could have an additional benefit, should it require a UK operational base in the post-Brexit era.

Also this month, the company – which has its headquarters inĀ Birdhill, Co. Tipperary, and already has another depot in Rathcoole, Co. Dublin – brought its firstĀ Komatsu WA200-8 wheel loader into the country.

The machine is notable for its Stage IV compliant (128hp) engine, Smartloader Logic system, “big” multi-function monitor, air-suspended seat and re-styled appearance.

In other Komatsu news, the Japanese machinery giant recently developed a new hydraulic excavator with ā€˜Intelligent Machinery Controlā€˜. While tracked excavators donā€™t normally catchĀ AgriLandā€™sĀ eye, this digging protection system might appeal to agricultural and plant contractors alike.

The newĀ PC210LCiā€11Ā includes a control function that allows the operator to work without fear of digging too deep, thanks to its novel technology.

While Komatsu has previously released an excavator with ā€œintelligent technologyā€ ā€“ the PC210LCi-10 ā€“ this feature is now a ā€œproven conceptā€œ. Komatsu claims its latest model can ā€œdramatically improve efficiency, precision and safety on a work siteā€.

Movement of the bucket is automatically limited to ensure that it does not dig further than needed, while the control function automatically maintains the grade ā€“ with ā€œrealā€timeā€ bucket edge positioning.

McHale Plant Sales has already soldĀ a PC210LCi-10 here in Ireland; it’s on its way to Tower Plant and Civil Engineering.
