George Mason, the late vice-chairman of the Irish Farmers’ Association’s (IFA’s) National Grain Committee, passed away at his home in Co. Tipperary on Saturday, November 10.

The president of the farm lobby group, Joe Healy, has expressed his sadness and shock at the loss of his colleague, whilst also praising the contribution George has made to the association.

The farm leader also extended his sympathies to the family.

George was a tillage farmer by trade and owned a farm in Ardfinnan, Clonmel, Co. Tipperary, which Healy said he was “very proud of”.

George served as chairman of South Tipperary IFA from 2010 to 2014, where he “worked tirelessly” for farmers in the region.

Healy described George as “passionate” about tillage farming, adding that he was “always committed” to his work in the IFA and in representing farmers.

George was very proud of his farm in Ardfinnan, Co. Tipperary. He was a top-class tillage farmer who worked tirelessly in representing his fellow farmers.

“He was very popular with farmers who respected his views and insights. To his family, we extend our condolences,” added the association president.

George will be deeply missed by his extended family and a large circle of friends.

The late George Mason will be reposing at Costigan’s Funeral Home, Cahir, tomorrow (Tuesday, November 13) from 5:00pm to 8:00pm.

The removal will take place on Wednesday (November 14) to the Holy Family Church, Ardfinnan for 11:00am mass.
