Online farming store GlanbiaConnect has been named ‘Website of the Year 2019’ by the Retail Excellence Awards.

The 21st edition of the award ceremony was held at the Great Southern Hotel in Killarney, Co. Kerry, last Saturday November 10, and saw 500 retailers in attendance.

The award recognises Irish retailers who are “leading the way in their sectors”.

Over 70 retailers entered the Website of the Year category, and, as part of the judging process, were subject to an audit of the site, which looked at their customer usability and technical development.

The audit resulted in three sites being shortlisted for the award – with GlanbiaConnect beating out competition from Harry Corry and Arboretum to take the spoils.

We’re delighted to bring home the prize for best website. Our team has dedicated themselves to creating the best online customer experience at GlanbiaConnect.com. This is just the beginning for us and we have lots of new features on the way.

“Farming is technologically advanced and our farmer customers depend on high-quality online services to run their businesses,” said James Byrne, Glanbia’s marketing manager for retail and e-commerce.

He added that: “The majority of our website traffic now comes from smart phones. Farmers are busy, and we needed to develop a site that as well as looking great, delivers the same experience and speed in the field as it does on a computer.”

Glanbia claims that the site has been well received by customers and says their traffic and sales has increased threefold in a year.

The group says it’s now preparing for its biggest ever Black Friday sales event, beginning this Thursday, November 15.
