A direct relative of Ireland's highest classified cow came under hammer for €7,900 at the annual Eedy youngstock sale held on Saturday (August 29).

Eedy Lamagic Fame, the top-seller at the show, is an October 2025-born heifer with prestigious lineage.

She was sired by Comestar Lemagic and is out of Eedy Haniko Fame VG86, a heifer projected to produce 8,819kg of milk at 4.65% fat and and 3.56% protein in her first lactation this year.

Eedy Lamagic Fame has the potential to be the 9th generation of VG/EX cows.

Her most notable relative is her grand-dam, Eedy Doorman Fame EX97-3E.

Last month, the Helen family's prized cow, Eedy Doorman Fame, became the first Irish-bred cow to be awarded the exceptional classification score of EX97 max.

This represents a historic milestone in Irish Holstein breeding.

Jason Helen and his wife Laura, operate the acclaimed Eedy Holsteins herd of Lisroe, Clonakilty in Co. Cork alongside Jason's parents, Robert and Sylvia.

Sale results

There were 32 pedigree Holstein heifers up for grabs at this year's edition of the Eedy youngstock sale, as well as one young pedigree Holstein bull.

Bidding was fierce as buyers from across the country tried to get their hands on exceptionally high quality stock.

The herd is currently producing an average of 9,226kg of milk at 4.28% fat and 3.44% protein, ultimately equating to 712kg of milk solids.

The next best price on the day was €5,500, paid for a first choice heifer lot.

Sizzler Dropbox Amalfi ET, that has been served to Farnear Delta-Lambda's sexed semen brought attention to this lot.

She has the potential to be an 8th generation EX cow, with the last six of her dams including an EX96 cow, three EX95 cows, and two EX93 cows.

€5,300 paid for Eedy Exclusive Anna Red, a February 2026-born heifer with a long lineage of EX dams. She is sired by Trent-Way Exclusive Red and is out of Eedy Rebel Anna Red ET;
€5,200 paid for Eedy Pazzle Jasmine, a September 2025-born heifer again with a long line of EX dams. She is sired by Siemers RZ Pazzle 34954 and is out of Eedy Delta Mudpie ET;
€4,800 paid for Eedy Hollyview Adorable Sara, an October 2025-born heifer that has the potential to be a fifth generation of Ex94 cows. She is sired by Stantons Adorable and is out of Wiltor Beemer Sara 2 ET.

The single bull sold at the sale was April 2026-born Eedy Luminous, that went under the hammer for €1,400.

The deep pedigreed young bull comes from a long line of VG/EX cows, and has an economic breeding index (EBI) of €72.

He was sired by Silverridge V Einstein and is out of Eedy Parfect Lou Ella.

Over all, the heifer sale averaged €3,160/head, excluding the sale price of the bull.
