Irish food company Greencore raises profit forecast to €293m

Irish convenience food manufacturer Greencore has again increased its profit guidance for its full financial year.

The company said in its quarter four (Q4) trading statement that it was increasing the profit guidance for the second time in three months, following "a strong performance" in the quarter.

The business said it expects to report adjusted operating profit for the 2026 full year (52 weeks to September 25) of £248 million (€293.5 million), 4% ahead of expectations of £238 million (€281.7 million).

According to Greencore's trading statement, it ended its financial year strongly, with volume growth ahead of the market, "excellent profit momentum" and positive cashflow generation.

The company reported expected revenue in Q4 of around £1.04 billion (€1.23 billion), an increase of 4.5%, while full year revenue is expected to by £3.38 billion (€4 billion), an increase of 3.6%.

Manufactured volume growth in Q4 increased by 2.1%, ahead of the wider grocery market figure of 0.5%.

Greencore said chilled categories, including salads, dips and sandwiches, preformed well; while both the legacy Greencore business and the Bakkavor business (which Greencore acquired in 2025) "outperformed the market".

Greencore said that underlying profit momentum was ahead of expectations, driven by volume growth, margin improvement, and cost efficiency programmes.

The company reported net debt, excluding lease liabilities, of around £600 million (€710 million).

In terms of the year ahead, Greencore said that trading in the first quarter (Q1) of the 2027 business year has started positively; while the group acknowledged that the macroeconomic situation is uncertain, it remains confident in its outlook.

Greencore is continuing to progress the sale of its US business, which has been treated as a discontinued operation and held for sale.

Greencore is set to publish finalised full year results for 2026 on December 1.

Commenting on the Q4 trading statement, Greencore CEO Dalton Phillips said: "We grew volume ahead of the market, drove strong profit growth and we continue to make strides in our integration with Bakkavor.

"That performance means we are in a position to further upgrade our full year guidance," Phillips added.

"We have real momentum in our business and Greencore has never been in a stronger place. Customers want to do more with us and we are seeing encouraging progress from cross-selling categories across our expanded customer base," the Greencore CEO said.
