2026 tractor registrations remain on course for a 5% market increase, according to new data from the Farm Tractor and Machinery Trade Association (FTMTA).

The latest FTMTA Statistics Service Report for July 2026 shows the current level of vehicle registration activity in the farm machinery sector in Ireland.

283 new tractors were registered in July 2026, which is 20% lower compared with the same month in 2025.

However, the FTMTA noted the year-to-date figure stands at 1,770 new tractors registered, a 5% increase over the same seven month period in 2025.

Counties Cork, Wexford, and Tipperary delivered the highest number of new tractor registrations for July.

Tractors

The most popular power band for July 2026 was the 121hp to 140hp category, which accounted for 25% of all new tractor registrations.

The monthly average tractor horsepower figure for July 2026 was 145hp, and the largest tractor registered was rated at 335hp.

263 imported used tractors were first-time registered in Ireland in July 2026, 18 units lower than in July 2025.

There were 1,729 used tractors first time registered in Ireland for the year to the end of July 2026.

The FTMTA data also shows 34 new combine harvesters were registered for the year to date, up marginally from the 2025 figure of 32 units.

The Claas brand was the market leader at 17 units (50%), followed by John Deere with 11 units (32%), while New Holland was in third place with four units (12.5%).

Case IH and Deutz-Fahr each registered one model so far this season.

Ireland’s smallest county, Louth recorded the highest number of new combine harvester registrations at eight units, followed by Wexford with six units and Meath with five units.

12 used imported combine harvesters were registered for the first time in 2026, a decrease from 16 used imported combine harvesters registered in 2025.

The Irish market for new telescopic loaders reported a 10% decrease in July 2026 at 98 units compared with July 2025.

JCB and Manitou accounted for 70% of the total year to date market, with Weidemann marginally ahead of Kramer in third place.

There were 48 imported used telescopic loaders registered in July 2026, a significant reduction from the 57 units registered in July 2025.

FTMTA

The Irish wheeled loader market recorded a 61% higher number of new registrations in July 2026 at 26 units, compared with June 2025.

The Chinese manufactured machines at the lower price end of the market accounted for 50% of the new wheeled loader registrations.

7 imported used wheeled loaders were registered in June 2026.

10 new Irish backhoe loaders were registered in July 2026, while five used backhoe loaders were registered in the month.

27 new utility terrain vehicles (UTVs) were registered in Ireland in July 2026, compared with 33 in July 2025.

There were four used imported UTV registered for the first time in July 2026.

The FTMTA Statistics Service Reports are compiled from monthly raw data received from the Irish Revenue Commissioners who are responsible for all first-time registrations of all new and used vehicles in Ireland.
