The primary responsibilities include working with farmers and landowners to provide guidance on Department of Agriculture schemes and regulations, farm nutrient management plans, and general farm advice.

Essential requirements include (among others): a level 8 qualification in agriculture; knowledge of Irish farming systems and environment issues affecting farmland; and good communication and interpersonal skills.

Ruminant nutritionist

Smyths Daleside, a leading manufacturer of animal feed in the northwest of Ireland, is inviting applications for the position of ruminant nutritionist at its Ballindrait mill in Co. Donegal.

The role will involve supporting growth strategies across the sales area to grow profitable feed sales to new and existing customers; providing customers and the sales team with technical advice and support on ruminant nutrition, diet formulation and feeding practice; and providing training and ensuring the sales team are up to date with the latest research and best practice.

The candidate should have a degree level qualification in agricultural or animal science (or equivalent); possess sound knowledge of ruminant production systems and nutrition; and preferably have previous experience of providing advice to farmers.

Agri-food and land-based specialist

The Civil Service of Northern Ireland is hiring an agri-food and land-based specialist to work in several Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs (DEARA) locations around Northern Ireland.

Technical sales advisors

Agronomy business Grassland Agro is looking to take on technical sales advisors/agronomists to join its growing team in the following regions: west Cork; north Kerry; and north Cork.

The successful candidates will be responsible for advice and sales of the company's product range, in soil conditioning, fertilisation and mineral supplements, direct to farmers through local co-ops and merchants in the region.

Candidates should have commercial knowledge, sales and advisory skills experience; a degree in agriculture, agricultural science, or related field; and in-depth knowledge of farming and agricultural products, as well as their applications and benefits.

Territory manager/account manager

Bimeda, a leading global manufacturer and marketer of veterinary pharmaceuticals and animal health products, is looking for a territory manager for the Munster area, who will report directly to the company's Ireland manager.

As a territory manager, the role will involve building and maintaining strong relationships with prescribers, retailers and key decision-makers across the veterinary and agricultural trade sectors within your assigned territory, driving sales growth and market penetration to ensure company targets are met.

This role also carries several designated key accounts, giving hands-on exposure to strategic account planning and management alongside territory duties.

Candidates should hold (among other requirements) a Bachelor's degree (business or related field preferred) and a veterinary or agricultural-based qualification; or equivalent relevant experience in animal health, veterinary or agricultural sectors.

Lairage operator

Liffey Meats in Co. Cavan has an opportunity for an experienced and committed lairage operator to join its team.

The successful candidate should have a strong agricultural background, with relevant experience in livestock handling.

A good understanding of farming, animal welfare and the day-to-day requirements of a busy meat processing environment is essential.

As lairage operator, the role will involve responsibility for the day-to-day management and care of livestock within the factory, ensuring the highest standards are maintained in animal welfare and livestock handling; livestock health and wellbeing; hygiene and cleanliness; and other areas.

Farm manager

Irish-based livestock sourcing and supply company Viastar is seeking a farm manager to oversee the day-to-day running of its cattle farm in Co. Kildare, which caters for up to 800 head of cattle.

The successful candidate will take responsibility for ensuring the farm operates efficiently.

The key duties for the farm manager include managing livestock, operating machinery, maintaining records, and planning daily activities.

The successful candidate will be managing cattle both at grass and in sheds and will oversee all matters of animal husbandry as well as overseeing the intake and dispatch of cattle from the farm at different times of the year.
