The West of the country is set to get the best of the weather over the weekend according to Met Eireann’s latest forecast

Met Eireann forecasts are suggesting that there will be cooler than usual weather over the next few days with rather cloudy skies persisting.Its not all bad news though, long dry spells are forecast at times too. Mainly across the western half off the country.

However the low pressure system which has been a feather of our weather over the past week will be persisting

Rain is forecast to mainly affect the eastern half of the country during Saturday with some sunshine further to the west. Temperatures are forecast to recover slightly on Sunday with rain and drizzle mainly effecting Ulster and North Leinster.

Met Eireann forecast

Saturday: Cool and rather cloudy again tomorrow and breezy in places. Some dry, bright periods but showers in many places, some heavy. Highest temperatures of 12 to 15 degrees in a moderate or fresh North to northeast breeze.

Saturday night : Cool on Saturday night with some further showery rain at times overnight in eastern areas, showers elsewhere will be well scattered. Overnight lows of 6 to 8 degrees in a moderate north to northwest breeze.

Sunday: Rather cloudy on Sunday with showers developing in places, especially in eastern areas, where there could be some more prolonged heavy showers later in the day. Moderate northwest breezes and afternoon temperatures will range from 12 to 15 or possibly 16 degrees.
