A top price of 11,500gns was achieved at the Summer Sizzler sale over the weekend in Ballymena Mart in Co. Antrim.

The sale, now in its fifth year, saw some elite genetics on offer, with 64 lots from 19 vendors parading through the ring.

The average overall price made throughout the sale was 5,330gns, while embryo packages made between 700-800gns.

The sale was sizzling early on, with lot 10 achieving 11,500gns, the top price given during the entirety of the sale.

The first choice heifer calf is due to calve down in February 2027, with the buyer getting their choice of heifer calves at three months old.

The attraction to this lot comes for the offspring of the elite pedigree, Smygwatys Lambda Erica ET.

Erica is highly acclaimed cow in the American pedigree industry, and has the potential to deliver a 12th generation EX heifer.

The dam has being producing 13,050kg/milk at 4.30% fat and 3.20% protein.

Apex Genetics, who sold the first choice heifer, had a further 12 lots up for sale, six of which made over 6,000gns including two which surpassed 7,000gns.

In terms of live sales Simlahill Dropbox Mary ET of lot 14 went home for a top bid of 10,400gns.

The August-2025-born heifer was bred by the McCann family of Co. Down.

She is out of Blexys Chief Bloody Mary, who gave 20,298kg/milk at 4.5% fat and 3.3% protein in her second lactation.

The heifer's maternal sister sold for $30,000 at the Purple Ribbon Classic sale in the US back in March 2026.

Some other top sellers on the day included lot 40, Matfield Dropbox Cleavage ET, a December-2025-born heifer who went under the hammer for 8,600gns.

Meanwhile, two more choice heifer lots made 8,000gns each.

Lot 58 where Comestar Latinet Parfect ET was the main attraction and lot 61 where Miss Lambda Footloose ET pulled in bidders.
