Three weather warnings have been issued by Met Éireann for wind and rain, which will affect a total of five counties in the south and east of the country over the coming days.
A Status Yellow wind warning was issued by the national meteorological office earlier today (Wednesday, February 17).
Affecting counties Waterford, Wexford and Wicklow, this alert will be valid from 11:00pm tonight through to 5:00am tomorrow morning.
The weather forecaster issued a second wind warning at 3:17pm this afternoon, which will be valid for counties: Cork; Kerry; Waterford; and Wexford, from 9:00pm tomorrow night through to 4:00pm on Friday.
Where winds are onshore there is a risk of coastal flooding around high tide, it was added.
Meanwhile, a Status Yellow rainfall warning will also come into effect for counties Cork, Kerry and Waterford at 9:00pm tomorrow night. This will be valid until 4:00pm on Friday.
In the three named counties, it was highlighted that heavy rain on Thursday night and Friday may cause some river flooding and localised surface flooding.
Rainfall totals of 30 to 40mm are expected, with this likely to be higher in mountainous regions.
