Long-time Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Dairymaster, Edmond Harty, is to step down from the position later this month (November) to “pursue other interests”.
He has been with the Kerry-headquartered dairy equipment manufacturer since 1998, holding the positions of Technical Director and then CEO.
He is also an Adjunct Professor at University College Dublin (UCD).
Speaking to AgriLand this afternoon (Tuesday, November 3), Edmond Harty said that he is leaving the company in a strong position.

“I’m delighted to be leaving the business in such a strong position, as a leading international high-tech dairy equipment manufacturer and I’m very proud of our innovation-led achievements over my tenure,” Harty said.
“It’s like all these things…different opportunities present; there are a lot of people undertaking big change at the moment and I decided that it was something that I wanted to do.
I’ve got a great buzz out of the business over the years – big focus on innovation; big focus on a lot of things and I suppose there was so much I had achieved.
“I had done a huge amount of travelling over the last 22 years and this last year has showed what life is like without all the travelling and that’s very much a positive.”
Company success
The company is continuing to expand and Harty told AgriLand that the company has had a “huge” amount of successes.
“There is a huge amount of opportunity. The Irish market is very very positive at the moment; we’ve been very successful in that,” he said.
“Last year we did two acquisitions which were in The Netherlands; we’ve a base in the US and the UK and they are continuing to expand as well.
“The energy, innovation and commitment of the people I have had the pleasure of working with has been absolutely pivotal,” he added.

While Edmond Harty will be leaving his role with the company in the next 10 days, the future of the company will remain in the family.

Edmond’s brother John Harty, who has been Director of Operations at Dairymaster for a number of years, will succeed Edmond in the role of CEO and Edmond has described him to AgriLand as a “very capable” replacement.
Edmond has not revealed his future plans but said he’s looking forward to spending more time with his wife and two children at their Kerry home.
