A man who fell from a height died a number of days after been taken to hospital with head injuries in a farming related accident in Roscommon.

Gardai confirmed that the incident took place Monday around 4pm and the man was working on the farm and is believed to have fallen from a teleporter.

The 44-year-old man was taken to Beaumont Hospital where he is being treated for head injuries.

The man, a married father of three young children, Patrick Bowens suffered severe head injuries when he fell from the ladder at his mother’s home in Cloonfad, Co. Roscommon on Monday.

Despite numerous initiatives about farming safely, the number of farming-related accidents and deaths remains high. This year, 15 people have died in farming-related accidents.
