The week ahead is looking reasonably dry, according to Met Eireann, with the last of the current spells of rain set to clear by tomorrow.
It will be generally dry this morning (Monday, February 19), with the cloud breaking at times to allow some sunshine through, the national meteorological office added.
In the afternoon, rain will develop in the west and slowly extend eastwards. It will be mild today with highest temperatures of 10° to 13° in light south-west breezes.
The last of the rain will clear to the east coast early tonight and skies will clear. As a result, it will turn cold with lowest temperatures of 1° to 3°, giving a widespread frost and possibly ice on road surfaces. Winds will be mainly light west to north-west.
Poorly-drained soils are currently saturated; but, well-drained and moderately-drained soils have somewhat improved in the last week and will further improve in the days ahead.
Tomorrow
Apart from the odd shower, tomorrow will be a dry day with good spells of sunshine, Met Eireann forecasts. Highest temperatures will peak at 8° or 9° in light northerly breezes.
Outlook
Frost is expected to clear quickly on Wednesday morning. It is expected to be dry and bright for the day with good sunshine. It will be a cool day, however, with highs of 7° to 9° in light south-east breezes. Widespread frost is expected overnight.
Meanwhile, Thursday will again be a generally dry day for the bulk of the country; but, some scattered light rain will affect the east and south at times. Temperatures will range from 6° to 7°.
