There’s a fine week in store, with warm sunshine and dry weather forecast. There will be a slight break in the weather Thursday, but it will improve again for the weekend, Met Eireann has said.
There will be long spells of sunshine will occur today, Monday, and most areas will hold dry, apart from a few showers in the southwest later in the day.
It is forecast to be rather warm, with above normal maxima, widely rising to 20 or even 21 degrees Celsius; a few degrees lower though for north and northwest counties, as well as down along eastern coasts.
Winds will be light to moderate northeasterly and there will be some low cloud or fog at times later near north and northwest coasts.
Most areas will hold dry tonight under clear skies and Met Eireann has said that mist or fog patches will develop, mainly across northern coasts.
Tonight, lowest temperatures will range between 6 to 9 degrees Celsius in light northerly breezes.
Over the next few days, operational rainfall total forecasts from Met Eireann indicate that rainfall will be well below average in most places at just 10 to 20% of normal values.
Drying conditions this week will be good at many times with warm sunshine, but Met Eireann has said that the radar will need to be watched regarding showers and there won’t be much wind.
Tuesday
There will be plenty of sunshine tomorrow, Tuesday and most areas are forecast to hold dry. Again, it will be rather warm, with above normal maxima, widely rising to 21 or even 22 degrees Celsius.
It will stay dry tomorrow night under broken cloud, but with some mist and fog patches as lowest temperatures range between 7 to 10 degrees Celsius.
Meanwhile, soil temperatures were generally between 1 and 2 degrees warmer than average last week and this coming week soil temperatures are expected to continue well above normal.
Wednesday
According to Met Eireann, Wednesday will be a rather warm day again, with spells of sunshine, hazy at times in the east.
It looks likely that temperatures will be a few degrees lower along north and east coasts due to onshore breezes. Spraying conditions this week will be good as winds will be light.
Thursday
Thursday will be a duller day, especially in the very east of Leinster, where there is the likelihood of occasional rain or drizzle, however it is forecast to be brighter further west with some nice sunny spells.
Highest temperatures will range 14 to 20 degrees Celsius (all the while best in the west); Met Eireann has said it will be coolest along the east coast, with moderate to fresh northeast winds feeding in off the Irish Sea.
Friday
Current indications from Met Eireann suggest that Friday will be a warmer and brighter day with highest temperatures of 16 to 22 degrees Celsius.
Good spells of sunshine are expected on Friday and it should hold fully dry with just light northeast breezes. Local sea breezes are forecast to develop along western coasts through the day.
Met Eireann has said that, going by current weather charts, the warm spell will persist into next weekend, possibly with even higher temperatures.
