Tirlán cooperative and Baileys Irish Cream Liqueur have today (Monday, October 5) opened applications for the 2026 student bursary programme.
The bursaries, worth €1,000 each, form part of the Tirlán and Baileys Sustainable Farming Academy.
This joint initiative aims to support the next generation of farmers in developing the skills and knowledge needed to build on-farm resilience.
Family members of Tirlán suppliers and growers who commenced Level 8 degree studies in agricultural science in autumn 2026 are eligible to apply for one of four bursaries.
Along with completing an application form, applicants are asked to submit a personal statement outlining how the bursary would support their studies.
Eligible candidates will then be entered into a randomised draw.
The closing date for applications is October 31, 2026, and bursary recipients will be announced in November 2026.
Application forms can be found on the Tirlán Farm Life website.
Carol Power, Tirlán senior sales manager strategic accounts, said the co-op and Baileys are "proud to support the next generation of agricultural leaders through the Sustainable Farming Academy Bursary programme".
"By investing in students pursuing agricultural science, we are helping to equip the next generation of co-op members with the knowledge, skills and confidence needed to build resilient and sustainable family farm businesses.
"The bursaries reflect our shared commitment to supporting education, encouraging innovation and ensuring Irish agriculture continues to thrive for generations to come," she said.
Rosalind Healy, Baileys global brand director, noted that Baileys has partnered with Tirlán since 1974.
"By supporting education in sustainable farming, we’re mutually investing in the better future of Irish agriculture.
"The Sustainable Farming Academy is a powerful platform for change, and we’re delighted to support this initiative as it grows."
