Sheep sales at Manorhamilton Mart in Co. Leitrim were certainly lively this week, as the trade for hoggets and cull ewes picked up.
Taking a look at recent sheep sales at marts in the west of Ireland, the demand for finished and heavy lambs continues to be the trend.

Ballinasloe Mart, Co. Galway hosted its weekly general cattle sale on Wednesday, April 12, with 300 cattle on offer.
Agriland made the trip to Ballinasloe Mart on Thursday, October 3, to check in on the mart's sheep sale which was dominated by store lambs.

The Workplace Relations Commission (WRC) has ordered Ballinasloe Co-op Livestock Mart Limited to pay over €3,600 in compensation to a worker.
On Thursday evening (March 10), Agriland made the trip to Ballinasloe Mart to cast an eye over the mart's sheep sale which saw cull ewe prices reach €220.
Speaking with Eilish Curley, of Ballinasloe mart, she stated: "Farmers were still very keen to get their hands on store cattle this week."
The trade in most marts across the country last week was provided with a major boost by Northern buyer activity.
Speaking to mart managers over the past week or so, the general consensus is that the cast ewe trade is back slightly.
A power outage on Saturday, resulted in the management of Ballinasloe Mart making the decision to call the sale off.
Balinasloe Mart’s weekly heifer and bullock sale took place on Wednesday (February 7). A mix of farmers and feedlot buyers competed for stock.
