Looking to tomorrow, Saturday, the day will start cloudy and dull however, it will be another dry day and sunny spells are forecast to develop by afternoon, especially in the south and southwest.

Met Eireann has said that this is the first prolonged spell of good drying for many months.

Furthermore, it forecasts the weather will stay dry for the next seven day period and moisture content of the air is low in general.

Light, northeast to north breezes will persist, it’s promised to stay rather cool and highest temperatures will range between 7 to 11 degrees.

Saturday night looks set to be dry with variable amounts of cloud but clear spells are likely in most areas.

There will be little or no wind and it will be cold enough for slight to sharp ground frost to occur, Met Eireann together with patches of fog.

Sunday is promised to be another dry day countrywide with a mixture of cloud and sunny spells.

Outlook for next week – Met Eireann

Dry and settled weather conditions look set to persist for Monday and Tuesday.

There will be variable cloud and light breezes on both days and temperatures will be close to normal however, Met Eireann has promised that the nights will always be colder, with local frost and some fog patches.

Drying and spraying conditions next week are promised to be good.

Dry and bright conditions will continue for much of Wednesday also but westerly breezes will develop as the day goes on and cloud will tend to increase.

Rain arriving in the northwest of the country early on Wednesday night is forecast to likely to spread countrywide as the night goes on, accompanied by freshening, northwesterly winds.

Current indications suggest that rain will clear to sunshine and showers early on Thursday morning but fresh and gusty, northwesterly winds will persist throughout the day, making it feel cold.

The current spell of weather will ensure the continued acceleration of growth and will also greatly assist ploughing and planting.
