Showers are set to develop over the next few days, but conditions will turn drier and milder later in the week, according to Met Eireann.

This morning, Monday, will see some bright spells in the southeast for a time. It is expected to be mostly cloudy, with rain in Connacht and Ulster spreading southeastwards over Leinster and Munster, this afternoon; this rain is forecast to clear in the late evening.

It is likely to be warm and humid, with temperatures set to reach highs of between 17º to 21º. Fresh, gusty southerly winds are expected to veer westerly and moderate as rain clears.

Clear spells are forecast in many areas overnight, but there is a risk of a few patches of mist and fog forming.

Most areas are likely to remain dry, apart from the danger of a few scattered showers near Atlantic coasts. Temperatures may drop to around 8º or 11º, in light variable or westerly breezes.

Poor drying conditions are expected today due to a band of rain moving in, while there will be limited opportunities for spraying over the next few days, according to Met Eireann.

Tomorrow

Tomorrow, Tuesday, is set to be a bright, fresh day, with a mix of sunny spells and cloudy periods. There is a risk of a few scattered showers developing, but most places will remain dry.

Temperatures are forecast to range from 14º to 18º, while moderate southwesterly winds are likely to be fresh along the northwest coast.

Conditions tomorrow night will be cooler than recent nights, with temperatures dropping to between 7º to 10º, Met Eireann explained.

Mist, alongside some patches of fog, is expected to develop overnight. But later, there is a danger that some showers will push into Atlantic coastal counties.

Wednesday and Thursday

The outlook for Wednesday and Thursday suggests that bright or sunny spells can be expected on each day; these will be more common during the morning period. There is a possibility of some showers too.

Showers are likely to be fairly widespread during each afternoon; some will be heavy, with a risk of thunder.

Conditions are expected to be fresh, with top temperatures of 15º to 18º – at best – forecast. Meanwhile, it is set to be cold each night, with lows of 5º to 9º.

Outlook

Friday and Saturday – at this stage – look like being mostly dry and bright days, according to Met Eireann. Very few showers are expected, with sunny spells forecast at times in all areas.

Temperatures should recover a little, peaking at between 17º to 20º – in light to moderate variable breezes. Some mist and patches of fog are possible overnight also.
