Several sheep have had to be put down after a dog attacked and savaged a flock in Garvagh, Co. Derry.

Police are appealing for witnesses following a report of an attack on sheep in the Ballerin Road area of Garvagh on Monday, November 20.

It’s thought that more than one dog may have been involved in the incident in which a number of sheep were injured at a farm in Shanlongford.

Several of the animals had to be subsequently put down.

A spokesman for the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) said the force was encouraging farmers to take measures to protect their property.
