After four years of research and development, Seederal has unveiled its "natively electric" tractor, designed entirely in France.
Unlike other electric tractors, which are based on fossil fuel bodies, this tractor is purpose built for utilising electricity as its fuel source, resulting in the tag "natively electric".
According to Seederal, the tractor's "architecture, battery, energy management, traction system and cab were designed from the outset around electricity and agricultural applications".
The Seederal tractor falls into the mid-powered tractor segment, producing 160hp, which is impressive given it is an electric tractor.
Perhaps the most eyecatching stat from Seederal regarding the tractor is the 8-12 hour working range, which is noticeably longer than most other electric options.
The manufacturer claims to have a daily charging time of 8-10 hours.
Occasional fast charging is also an option which, starting from two hours, can meet short-term needs of the tractor.
Seederal previously unveiled an electrified design of an existing tractor platform in late 2023, namely, a JCB Fastrac.
According to the company, this allowed it to "test its technical choices in the field".
This placeholder tractor facilitated the company to conduct over 600 hours of testing and gather feedback from more than 100 farmers.
The priority during the development cycle of the tractor was to ensure reliability and to validate performance in real operating conditions.
An emphasis has been placed on comfort within the tractor, with extensive research done into the cab's suspension system.
Seederal claims the cab provides a quiet working environment, with noise levels only reaching 66dBA when the rear window is open, vastly reducing operator fatigue and improving concentration simply by reducing noise pollution.
According to Seederal, the tractor has no equipment constraints, with the following list of specs:
The Seederal tractor also has access to competitive technologies such as ISOBUS compatibility, telemetry, GPS, field management, implement management and autonomous driving functions.
Seederal is built on the idea that "agriculture must free itself from fossil fuels".
Founder and president of the French company, Arthur Rivoal credited farmer autonomy and the relationship the agricultural community has with energy as two of the driving motives for the electric tractor.
He said: "We want farmers to be less dependent on diesel and have greater control over their energy.
"A farm that generates its own electricity should be able to put it to use across its operations.
"An electric tractor can contribute by carrying out agriculturalwork and serving as an energy reserve available when the farm needs it.
"With this first product, that ambition becomes tangible," Rivoal said.
Seederal is now planning the commercial rollout of its tractor, with initial deliveries set to arrive in early 2028.
