A father and daughter farming team and their herd of dairy cows are all set to make their debut on the big screen as part of a new Lakeland Dairies campaign that aims to highlight that “nature is wonderful”.

Julie Mullarkey and her father Seamus McNally – and their herd of dairy cows – are the undisputed stars of the campaign that will shortly be appearing in cinemas across the Republic and Northern Ireland.

The father and daughter team from Glaslough will share the “magic” of farming in Co. Monaghan with cinema goers in the co-op’s new campaign, which will kick off at the end of March and is expected to be seen by “thousands”.

The campaign will be aired in cinema screens in Cavan, Longford, Leitrim, Monaghan, Derry, Belfast, Enniskillen and Newry.

The video campaign highlights how Julie was always her father’s “shadow” when she was growing up and how their cows are “lucky girls” as the graze the drumlins of Co. Monaghan.

“We’re producing as best as we can and we will continue to strive to produce better.

“It’s been wonderful to be able to inherit this farm of land and to work it as my children grow and to be able to hand it on to them, it’s a fantastic feeling.

“We just love it and we love the changes that are always coming at us and how we go about the challenge,” she said.

Dairy farm families

According to Lakeland Dairies’ chair, Niall Matthews the co-op’s farm families are the “backbone” of the co-op.

“As part of our new campaign, it’s important that we showcase the hugely important role they play in the success of the co-op.

“Julie and Seamus are wonderful ambassadors for their family, for Lakeland Dairies and the entire dairy industry. We’re all hugely proud of them and their commitment for excellence.

“This campaign video is just one of the ways we aim to highlight the value of our 3,200 farm families and how much we recognise their work, ” he added.

According to Julie she firmly believes “nature is wonderful”.

“You need to work alongside it, appreciate it and mind it,” she said.
