Met Éireann has issued a Status Yellow wind warning.

The affected counties are: Clare; Cork; Kerry; Limerick; and Waterford.

The warning will be in effect from 1:00p.m until 9:00p.m on Tuesday (September 29).

Very strong and gusty south-easterly winds can be expected.

Potential impacts include wave overtopping and flooding on coasts due to a combination of spring tides, surge and very strong onshore winds.

Difficult travelling conditions, some fallen trees and branches and debris, loose objects displaced can also be expected.

Rain warning

A Status Yellow rain warning has also been issued for counties Cork, Kerry and Waterford.

This is in place from 1:00p.m until 9:00p.m on Tuesday.

Spells of heavy rain include: localised flooding; difficult travelling conditions; and poor visibility.

Weather

The weather this coming week will be unsettled and blustery, before likely turning more mixed as the week goes on, according to Met Éireann.

Today (Monday) will be dry and bright for most with spells of sunshine, turning hazy at times, and just isolated showers.

Highest temperatures will be 14° to 17° with a light to moderate south to south-east breeze.

It will be dry for most tonight with clear spells. It will turn cloudier over the southern half of the country overnight with patchy rain and drizzle developing towards morning.

Tomorrow will be windy with south-easterly winds increasing fresh to strong and gusty, and reaching near gale force in the afternoon and evening.

There will be some early bright spells in the north but cloudy elsewhere with patchy rain and drizzle.

More persistent rain will develop in the south-west early in the afternoon and will move north-eastwards through the afternoon and evening, turning heavy in places with localised flooding possible.
