More time allowed to submit evidence to support farm investments

Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Martin Heydon has today (Friday, October 30) announced an extension to the call for evidence on capital investments on farms supporting agriculture and land use post-2027.

The deadline has now been extended until Friday, November 27, 2026.

Announcing the extension, Minister Heydon said: “This call for evidence provides an opportunity to make submissions, observations and comments regarding potential new innovative investments which could be considered in the future to support the transition to more sustainable systems of production under CAP [Common Agricultural Policy] post-2027.

"...The current capital investment scheme, the Targeted Agriculture Modernisation Scheme (TAMS) continues to be an enormous success supporting on-farm investments, with in excess of €200 million already paid to farmers since June 2024.

"It is very important that as we move towards a new CAP cycle that we gather evidence and learnings from stakeholders from the current scheme while also bringing a focus to new innovations at farm level.

"We will also need to prioritise those investments which give the biggest return in terms of economic, environmental, and social sustainability," the minister added.

Evidence

In making submissions stakeholders should include material which supports investment in infrastructures related to: the development, modernisation or adaptation to climate change of agriculture and land use; energy and water; installation of digital technologies in agriculture; precision farming.

There is a particular emphasis in areas such as farm safety, animal welfare and nutrient management.

Minister Heydon emphasised: “Capital investment on farm plays a critical role in meeting our evolving environmental and competitiveness challenges.

"It is a key priority for me that farm families continue to be supported to develop their farm businesses sustainably for the future.

"I would urge all stakeholders to provide feedback to this call for evidence as it will provide vital input to support the analysis on future investment priorities.”

All submissions are required to be sent by email to the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM) to [email protected]
