Met Éireann has issued a status yellow rain and wind warning for Dublin and Wicklow which is valid from tomorrow at 12:00 (Thursday, September 26) to 20:00p.m.

The national metrological service said that this is likely to result in “rain, heavy at times, coupled with gusty winds, strongest near the coasts and on higher ground”.

It has also warned that there could be spot flooding and potential traffic delays or disruption.

Met Éireann has said that in general it will be a “changeable and more unsettled” week ahead.

“Rainfall amounts will increase with many parts set to record above average rainfall accumulations.

“There is, however, uncertainty in the forecast as regards rainfall amounts, but with the current track of low pressure, between 20mm and 50mm can be expected. It looks like it will be wettest towards the east coast,” Met Éireann added.

It has also highlighted that it will turn much colder this week with mean air temperatures ranging 10°  to 12°, which is between 2° to 3°  below average.

Conditions for spraying will also follow suit and will be favourable for spraying on Friday and Saturday.

Soil moisture deficits (SMDs) are currently between 5 and 25mm in parts of the west and northwest but over the coming week there will be a reduction in SMDs in all areas, especially in the east and southeast.
