Sean McNamara has stepped down as president of the Irish Cattle and Sheep Farmers' Association (ICSA).

ICSA said in a statement today (Saturday, September 26) that McNamara has stepped down from his position with immediate effect.

"ICSA wishes to thank Mr McNamara for his contribution to the organisation and for his work on behalf of ICSA members during his term as president," the association said.

"Further details regarding the arrangements for the ICSA presidency will be confirmed in due course."

McNamara is a sheep and beef farmer from Lismacaffrey in Co. Westmeath, and was re-elected as the ICSA president in December 2024.

Before his role as president of the association, which has more than 10,000 members, McNamara was the sheep chairperson.

The association's national executive has over 100 members selected from all over the country, with each county being represented by four members (subject to membership criteria).
