The Lakeland Dairies Board has today (Tuesday, August 11) agreed to increase the price for milk for the month of July.

The processor said it will pay a base price of 38.5c/L, based on constituents of 3.6% butterfat and 3.3% protein for July milk in the Republic of Ireland (ROI).

This price is inclusive of the 0.5c/l Sustainability Incentive Payment, Lakeland said.

The base price for July marks a 1c/L increase on the previous month.

In Northern Ireland, the processor confirmed a base price of 30.9p/L for milk supplied in July, also inclusive of the Sustainability Incentive Payment. This price is an increase of 0.8p/l on June.

In a statement, a spokesperson for Lakeland Dairies said: "The market has improved marginally versus last month".

"Milk supply growth is easing somewhat, particularly in Europe where summer temperatures have impacted.

"If supply continues to slow, this will support a more positive market environment as the year progresses.

"Lakeland Dairies will continue to monitor the markets and will endeavour to support our farmers with the best milk price possible in line with market conditions," they added.

Meanwhile, the latest data shows that domestic milk intake by milk processors and co-ops was estimated at 1.05 billion litres in June 2026.

This represents a decrease of 35 million litres or 3.2% when compared with June 2025.

However, the June 2026 figure is up 14.3 million litres (1.4%) on the same month in 2024.

The Central Statistics Office (CSO) data shows that for the eighth consecutive month, fat content was higher than in the same month of the previous year.
