Gardaí: Investigation ongoing into theft of tractor parts in Limerick

Gardaí have confirmed that they are looking into the suspected theft of a tractor door and headlights from a farm in Cappamore, Co. Limerick.

Officers stated that the theft is believed to have occurred overnight between Friday, June 5 and Saturday, June 6.

Sergeant Michelle O'Halloran, who is the Crime Prevention Officer for Limerick, appealed for information following the theft.

Sgt. O'Halloran said: "A farmer arrived at his yard to discover that the passenger door and front headlights had been removed from his tractor overnight.

"It is believed those responsible may have accessed the property through lands to the rear of the farm.

"Gardaí in Cappamore are investigating and would like to hear from anyone who may have any information relating to this incident," she added.

The sergeant also took the opportunity to offer some security advice to farmers, detailing how they can help prevent thefts on their farms.

She commented: "We would encourage farmers to secure machinery where possible, record serial numbers, consider security lighting and CCTV, and report suspicious vehicles, individuals or activity in rural areas.

"Community vigilance remains one of the most effective crime prevention measures."
